Greet the World with Gratitude

ree

It’s Monday! For many it’s the end of the weekend, their least favorite day of the week and a cause of stress and anxiety that manifests itself with the Sunday scaries. Sunday shouldn’t have to be the source of anxiety for so many. So why does this happen and what can we do to try to alleviate it?

We're only human

Biologically, our brains are hardwired to go to the negative. It’s a primal trait that stems from our safety seeking days for survival. These days we tend to take that energy and hyper focus on the negatives in life like having to go back to work on Monday after a great weekend.

Create Balance

The solution to help us balance out the negatives with the positives is to practice gratitude daily. When we practice gratitude, it can help our brains send regenerative and healing signals to our bodies which in turn can help alleviate stress and anxiety.  The great news is that anyone can practice gratitude and start to enjoy the benefits of the practice.

Three easy ways to begin practicing gratitude

1. Start your day with gratitude. Say it or write down 3 things that you are grateful for.

2.  Journal, carry a gratitude journal around and whenever you experience something you are grateful for, write it down. Reflect on the journal to allow you to remember all the things that life has given you to be grateful for.

3.  Show gratitude towards others. Call a friend, text a neighbor, thank a coworker. Letting others know that you are grateful for them can help create a positive loop of gratitude.

What are you feeling grateful for today?
