Bloom where you are planted
If you know me, you have probably heard me say the phrase “Bloom where you are planted.” The phrase suggests that one should strive to thrive and grow in their current circumstances. This saying had deep meaning for me and I always tried to thrive and bloom in any situation. But now I realize that the saying is flawed in its guidance. This saying suggests that you don’t have the option to move, that you are stuck wherever you are. While it is smart to always make the most of your situation, there will be times when you must transplant yourself to a new location in order to flourish.
As someone who loves to garden, it has taken much trial and error over the years to figure out exactly which locations will allow my plants to grow and flourish with abundance. As their caretaker, I did not leave them in a place that wasn’t an ideal location just because that is where I planted them. I made sure that they had the right amount of sun, water and proper soil to become the strongest and healthiest plant they could be.
Plant yourself where you will flourish
We should start treating ourselves like the flowers in our garden. Our goal is not just to bloom but to flourish. We are not required to stay in one place and make the most of it. If our current situation does not allow us to be the best version of ourselves, we need to pick up and move to a better location with better soil, and just the right amount of sun and water.
I'm thinking my new life motto will be “Plant Yourself Where You Will Flourish”
